NIZHNY TAGIL - CRADLE OF METALLURGY

Nizhny Tagil has been included into the register of "historical towns of Russia". It is one of the oldest mining centers of both home and world metallurgy, the former land of the Demidovs - the famous dynasty of plant and mine owners. The past and the present of Nizhny Tagil are intermixed.

We invite you to a city tour including a trip to the top of Lissiya (Fox) mountain where you can get a perfect view of the city and surrounding landscape, and a sightseeing ground of the Main quarry of the Vysokogorsky lodestone mine which is being worked since 1721.

There are many things for you to see*:
• An exhibition devoted to the family of Demidovs and history of development of metallurgy in the Regional Studies Museum - the oldest in the Urals
• Industrial buildings and mechanisms of the 18th - 20th centuries located on the territory of the former Demidovs' enterprise - Nizhne-Tagilsky Works Museum
• Household articles and best samples of folk art of Tagil people exhibited in the Museum of Mining Population's Mode of Life and Trades
• Different models of tanks produced at the Urals plants exhibited in the Museum of Armoured Machinery (you will have an opportunity to get inside the T-90 tank - one of the latest models)
• The best samples of the Urals lacquer painting on metal from "Smena" company (famous Nizhne-Tagilsky trays).

The tour lasts 10 hours.
